Eleanor was born on a Sunday afternoon, March 29, 1931, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Theresa Louise Hagedorn Franks and Roy Franks. She died November 28, 2006. Eleanor was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and Louisiana Tech University. She received a masters degree in library and information sciences from the University of Maryland. Eleanor and her best friend, Logan Damewood, were married May 30, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, and were blessed with great happiness for more than 53 years. Logan's U.S. Air Force career allowed them to travel and live in different parts of the country until they settled in San Antonio, where she served as head of the MacArthur High School Library for 25 years. She loved God's gifts of family, friends, music, flowers, and nature, and especially enjoyed working with Logan on community projects during their last 11 years in Longview. In addition to her beloved husband, Eleanor is survived by a brother, Raymond H. Franks and wife, LaVerne of Shreveport, Louisiana; niece, Doris Miller and husband, Mark of Kilgore; niece, Evelyn Blankenship and husband, Ron of Maryland; niece, Linda Lillard and husband, Brian of Frisco; nephew, David Pitchlynn; and brother-in-law, Ernest Pitchlynn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Special cousins are June and Earl Montgomery of Longview; Marlene and Charles Norwood, and Kayla and Phil Orton, of Galveston; and Keith Norwood, Kenneth and Twyla Norwood and, Isabel De Northwood, all of Shreveport, Louisiana. Great-nieces and nephews are Preston, Austin, and Anna Grace Miller of Kilgore; Nathan, Melanie, and Angela Blankenship, of Maryland; Katie, Allison, and Nelson Lillard, of Frisco; Maddie and Cole Norwood, and Matthew De Northwood of Shreveport, Louisiana; Skye Woodgate of Houston; and Christopher and Andrew Orton of Galveston. The family wishes to recognize with deep appreciation and the kindness and professional care extended to Eleanor by Dr. Larry Frase, Tony Wallace and the staff at the Longview Cancer Center. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2006, at the First Baptist Church in Longview, with Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Longview Symphony Legacy Endowment or the Gregg County Humane Society. A memorial guestbook may be signed online. |

S. McSwain, age 85, of San Antonio, died Thursday, November 30, 2006.
She was a teacher in the Northeast School District for 38 years. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Warren S. McSwain and son, Warren
"Mac" McSwain, Jr. Survivors: daughter, Cynthia McSwain and
husband, Orion White, San Antonio, TX; son, John S. McSwain and wife,
Linda, Mineral, VA

Doris
Lynn Kays Doris Lynn Kays, born October 25, 1946, passed away the morning of February 14, 2007. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 38 years, William Kays; parents, J. Edgar and Glenice McIntire; younger brother, James McIntire; and nieces, Megan, Morgan and Mandy McIntire. A native of San Antonio, she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1964. Doris was a spirited and loyal graduate of The University of Texas, receiving her Bachelors Degree in 1968, and Masters Degree in 1970, and an avid fan of her favorite football team, the Longhorns. In 1968, she was hired as an English and Latin teacher with the North East Independent School District and taught at MacArthur High School for 17 years. Doris continued to work for the district as the Instructional Specialist in Language and Curriculum, then the Foreign Language Consultant and finally as the Director of Curriculum Compliance and Foreign Language. She retired from NEISD in January 2007, with 39 years of service amongst friends. Doris treasured the time spent with family, friends, colleagues and students. Losing her is immeasurable and while our sorrow is deep, we know she would rather find joy in our hearts at this celebration of her life. In lieu
