Adolf C. Heusinger was born
in Naestaetten on October 8, 1831. He was educated at the
Realschule at Mainz, and
in the Gymnasium, at Wiesbaden. In 1850, he came to America with his brother,
Dr. Julius Heusinger von Waldegg. An elder brother, Gustav, had already
settled in New Braunfels.
Adolph Heusinger came to San Antonio where he engaged in building and contracting. His home was on the West end of King William Street between the Hummel and Groos Homes. In April 1873 the Firm of Scheihagen and Heusinger puchased the Sartor Hardware Store, which dated about 1868. Later in 1876 Mr. Heusinger opened a hardware business of his own on Military Plaza, in January 1877.
