RULES

There may be one entry per school on each level.

This competition follows the basic rules of the National Forensic League, which include the following: The contestants (two in number) may use no more than two chairs, no other props;
1. may only pantomime actions;
2. must have a memorized introduction in German;
3. may have no prompting;
4. must use a piece from a published work by a German-speaking author (no translations);
5. must have two copies of this piece for the judges;
6. and must adhere to the time limits set forth above. The merit of the selection will be a criterion in judging.

Time limits:
Level I, 3 to 5 minutes;
Level II, 4 to 6 minutes
Level III and IV, 7 to 10 minutes

 

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

 

1.          PRONOUNCIATION AND SELECTION: Correct and understandable.

    Interesting and appropriate for participants. (0-20 Pts)

 

2.          CHARACTERIZATION AND BLOCKING AND MOVEMENT: Believable and completely and distinctly developed Adequate and purposeful. Actors are poised (0-20 Pts)

 

3.          PREPARATION: Sufficiently prepared. (0-20 Pts)

 

4.          VOICE AND DICTION: The voices are clear and audible. Responsive to mood and meaning. Work well together. (0-20 Pts)

 

 

5.          OVERALL EFFECT: Actors set and maintained a mood and worked well together. (0-20 Pts)
