RULES

There may be one puppet show per school from each of the following levels: Lower and Upper.
The script must be from a published work. Fairy tales may be adapted as puppet shows.

Two copies of the script must be provided for the judges.

ALL LINES FROM THE SCRIPT MUST BE MEMORIZED BY THE PERFORMER.

The judges will be asked to check behind the stage for scripts. A stage will be provided for the show on the contest site. Each group must provide its own: puppets, props, and backdrops for its show 
Time Limits:
Lower Level( 1st/2nd year): 4 minute minimum and 8 minute maximum
Upper Levels(3rd/4th/ADV): 7-minute minimum and 10 minute maximum.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

1.GERMAN PRONUNCIATION: The actors speak German correctly? (20 PTS)

2.SELECTION: The selection is interesting and the appropriate difficulty level. (5 pts)

3.PREPARATION: The performers have the play memorized. (20 PTS)

4.CHARACTERIZATION: The actors clearly and accurately develop the characters? (20 PTS)

5.VOICE AND DICTION: Actors enunciate.  Their voices are clear and audible.  Volume, rate, pitch, and inflection are used well.   (10 pts)

6.OVERALL EFFECT: The contestants set and maintain a mood. They keep the character and pace. The backdrops, props, costumes, and puppets enhance the show.  The performance leaves a lasting impression. (20 PTS)

7.BLOCKING AND MOVEMENT: The blocking is adequate and motivated. The actors are poised. They avoid unnecessary movements (5 pts)
