RULES:
Each school may have one skit entry on each level: level 1, level 2, level 3, and level 4. Two copies of the script must be given to judges.
If it is a mixed level cast, then it must be entered on the higher level. If advantaged speakers are included in an upper level skit, this information must be given to the judges.
Skits may be written by the class, by the teacher, by German speaking authors or by others. Skits may be taken from Fairy Tales.
Good pronunciation and grammatically correct German are most important in the judging. Costumes and props may be added for flavor.
Time Limits:
Levels I and II, Minimum 4 minutes, Maximum 8 minutes
Levels III and IV, Minimum 7 minutes and maximum 10 minutes.
CITERIA FOR JUDGING:
1. PRONUNCIATION: The actors speak German correctly? (0-20 pts)
2. SELECTION and PREPARATION: The selection is interesting sufficiently difficult for the performers? The performers know the script well (0-20 pts)
3. CHARACTERIZATION: The actors clearly and accurately develop their characters?(0-20 pts)
4. VOICE AND DICTION: The actors enunciated clearly Their voices were clear and audible. The volume, rate, pitch, and inflection are used well (0-20 pts)
5. BLOCKING AND MOVEMENT and OVERALL EFFECT: The blocking was adequate and motivated. The actors were poised. They avoided unnecessary movements. The contestants set and maintain a mood. They kept up the character and pace. The stage sets, props, costumes, and/or make-up enhanced the production The performance left a lasting impression? (0-20 Pts)
