Ginger Bread House

RULES:

THERE ARE TWO CATEGORIES and each school may enter one house in each of these categories:

TRADITIONAL HOUSES are "houses" like the Haensel and Gretel house.

NON TRADITIONAL structures such as tree houses, shoe houses, castles, churches, etc.

Students must build all houses from scratch. No kits.  Maximum amount of money to be spent: $45.00 per house.  House builders must show a receipt for expenses. Photos of the actual building of the house would be helpful to the judges in determining if the house was actually built by the students.

 

Use any recipe. All the parts of the house must be edible.

SIZE: Minimum house size (length and/or width), 9"; maximum, 24". No taller than 24". Measurements will be made from wall to wall. with a 1/2" variance. Any animals and figures must also be edible.

 

This must be a house or structure with a roof on it. Each house should have a card with the name, school name and type of house on it. If the house does not adhere to all the rules stated above, it must be disqualified from judging..

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

1.      MATERIALS: 80% should be student made rather than being bought in a candy store (0-20 pts)

 

 

2.      PRESENTATION AROUND THE HOUSE: landscaping, additional figures, fencing, ponds, other details (0-20 pts)

 

 

 

3. ORIGINALITY: structure was designed and built from students' own plan.

(0-20pts)

 

 

3.      IMAGINATION: creativity, such as furnishing in the house, shutters, stained-glass windows, wallpaper, pictures on the wall, fireplaces, chimneys, curtains and so on. (0-20)

 

 

 

 

4.      GENERAL EFFECT.  (20%)
