RULES:

One entry per school. Individual or group project. It may be entered in the following category.  Original Production(screenplay). The format is a standard VHS tape or a DVD. The VCR/DVD Player and TV will be provided. No European formats, please!

 

The dialogue must be in German. Three copies of the script must be given to the judges. The student filmmakers need not be present. The tapes and the script should be in a 9 by 12 manila envelope, clearly marked with name, name of school and teacher's name. The judges will collect these envelopes at least 10 minutes before the time for each presentation on the day of the contest.

 

Judging includes originality, German dialogue, and the professional quality of the video presentation. This may not be a tape of your play, skit or duet pieces. It must be an original documentary or screenplay. Time limit: Not less than 6 minutes and not more than 15 minutes. At least 6 students must be included in the filmed story or documentary. Creativity is encouraged

 

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

1.           GERMAN PRONUNCIATION:  Do the actors speak German correctly? (20)

 

 

2.          SELECTION:  Is the selection interesting?  Is it sufficiently difficult    

    for the performers? (20)

 

 

 

3.  PREPARATION and CHARACTERIZATION :  Did the performers know it well?  (10%)

    Do the actors clearly and accurately develop their characters? (20)

 

   

4.      VOICE AND DICTION:  Do the actors enunciate?  Are their voices clear and   audible?  Are volume, rate, pitch, and inflection used well? (20)

 

 

 

5.      OVERALL EFFECT:  Did the contestants set and maintain a mood?  Did they  keep the character and pace?  Did the stage sets, props, costumes, and/or     make-up enhance or distract?  Did the performance leave a lasting impression?    Is the blocking adequate and motivated?  Are the actors poised?  Do they    avoid unnecessary movements?(20)
